Preparing for your trip The weather on Catalina Island is usually very good. However, it is possible to have rain, wind, fog, or a combination of these conditions at any time. Programs will occur as planned or will be altered to meet the conditions. All Students and chaperones must have rain gear and warm clothing. Be prepared for all types of weather! Aboard Tall Ships, space is precious! Please pack with this in mind. We recommend a limit of one medium duffel bag, a backpack, and one sleeping bag per participant. Bags are store in your bunk with you while you are sleeping. Suitcases and boxy totes are not suitable for this. Remember to mark luggage with duct tape labeled “Tall Ship” (sleeping bags too). This is to avoid confusion with other groups that are sharing the ferry with you. This only applies to 3 day trips. The following list is similar to the one that goes home to the parents on the medical form.
