Making a Difference in the Lives of Children
Thank you for your interest in supporting Guided Discoveries. As a non-profit organization, there is never enough money to provide all of the services, equipment, building renovations buildings and scholarships that we would like. Your gift will help Guided Discoveries achieve its Mission: “To make a difference in the lives of children though unique opportunities of discovery".
Guided Discoveries is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization. All gifts are tax deductible in accordance with IRS regulations and are used in accordance with your wishes. Guided Discoveries operates a variety of exciting educational programs for elementary, middle and high school children. The Catalina Island Marine Institute (CIMI) and Catalina Sea Camp serve 30,000 children annually and provide a hands-on experience that connects the students to the ocean. Astrocamp and Astrocamp Summer Mission serve 18,000 students annually with a focus on the earth and the universe. The Tall Ship SSV TOLE MOUR, takes nearly 2000 students to sea each year and provides a life changing experience. Your gift will help support these programs so they can continue making a difference in the lives of children.
YOUR GIFTS
• Annual Fund
Your unrestricted gift will help fund student scholarships, equipment replacement, new program development, building renovation and new facility construction. It is used for projects that are beyond the normal operational budget.
• New Equipment
Many of the programs and science labs at CIMI, Astrocamp or the TOLE MOUR, require expensive specialized equipment or “toys”. Toys help connect the students to the environment and make the experience “hands-on” which is a powerful teaching method. You can make a major difference by underwriting the purchase of a new piece or equipment, vehicle or boat for the programs. We can provide our “wish list” for your consideration.
• New Facility Construction and Renovation
Guided Discoveries maintains several major facilities. The upkeep, maintenance and renovation is continuous. There is also the need to construct new facilities to meet the needs of the program. A generous gift dedicated to facility renovation or construction will be used to fund these projects. The long-term master plan outlines new labs, student dorms, program areas, a small lake, staff housing and renovation of existing structures. Your help is needed to accomplish these goals.
• Naming Opportunity
A major gift that has lasting recognition for your family, foundation or company and will make a major contribution to the children.
